Contest Rules, Terms, and Conditions
NO PURCHASE OR PAYMENT NECESSARY. A PURCHASE WILL NOT IMPROVE YOUR CHANCES OF WINNING. VOID WHERE PROHIBITED BY LAW.
BY ENTERING THE CONTEST, EACH ENTRANT AGREES TO THESE OFFICIAL RULES.
Eligibility: STLScavenger Contest (the “Contest”) is open only to individuals who are 18 years of age or older and are residents of Missouri and Illinois. Employees of Reedy Press (the “Sponsor”) and/or any individual involved in the design, production execution, or distribution of the Contest (collectively “Sponsor and Promotional Participants”) and their immediate family (spouse, parents, step-parents, siblings, step-siblings, children and step-children) and household members of each such employee or individual are not eligible to win. The Contest is subject to all applicable federal, state and local laws and regulations. Participation constitutes entrant’s full and unconditional agreement to these Official Rules and Sponsor’s decisions, which are final and binding in all matters related to the Contest. Winning a prize is contingent upon fulfilling all requirements set forth herein. Incomplete, illegible or fraudulent entries will not be considered. These restrictions apply even if the participant rejects the prize. Void outside of Missouri and where otherwise prohibited by law.
Contest Period: The Contest begins on 12:01 A.M. CST (Central Standard Time) May 1, 2021 and ends at 5:00 P.M. CST on November 15, 2021.
How to Enter: There are two (2) ways to enter and participate in the Contest:
Scavenger Hunt Entry. One entry per person. All Contestants must complete answers to questions from the book STLScavenger. Questions are grouped according to the chapter of the book in which they appear. Contestants will submit answers to questions from each chapter of the book through the stlscavenger.com “Submit Your Answers” page. For each question answered correctly, a Contestant will earn one point. All answers must be received before 5:00 P.M. CST on November 15, 2021. The Sponsor reserves the right to determine, in its sole discretion, whether the answer to any question is correct. Sponsor is not responsible for problems accessing the website, technical or atmospheric conditions that disrupt the completion of the website entry or any other problems that might or might not result from this Contest. The Scavenger Hunt Contest can be found at stlscavenger.com/hunt.
Social Media Puzzle Solving Entry. One entry per person. Contestants collect puzzle pieces from nine businesses that are participating in Contest. The puzzle pieces can be assembled to provide a clue to location in the St. Louis metropolitan area. Contestants will submit their answer to stlscavenger.com through the Puzzle Challenge page. The first Contestant who submits the correct answer will be declared the winner of the Social Media Puzzle Solving Contest. All entries and answers must be received before 5:00 P.M. CST on November 15, 2021. The Sponsor reserves the right to determine, in its sole discretion, whether a Contestant has properly registered and whether the Contestant has solved the puzzle correctly. Sponsor is not responsible for problems accessing the website, technical or atmospheric conditions that disrupt the completion of the website entry or any other problems that might or might not result from this Contest. The Social Media Puzzle Solving Contest can be found at stlscavenger.com/puzzle-challenge.
How to Win:
Scavenger Hunt Entry. The Contestant with the most earned points will receive the Scavenger Hunt First Place Prize. The Contestant with the second highest number of earned points will receive the Scavenger Hunt Second Place Prize. The Contestant with the third highest number of earned points will receive the Scavenger Hunt Third Place Prize. In the event of a tie, the Contestant whose answers were received first will be declared the winner.
Social Media Puzzle Solving Entry. The Contestant who correctly solves the puzzle will receive the Social Media Puzzle Solving Prize. In the event that more than one Contestant correctly solves the puzzle, the Contestant whose answer was received first will be declared the winner.
Prizes and Approximate Values. Prizes are non-assignable and non-transferable. Sponsor reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to substitute the prize, or portion thereof, for one of equal or greater value, for any reason. Prizes consist only of items specifically listed as part of a Prize. The Winners must meet the eligibility requirements as set forth in Paragraph 1 of these Official Rules. Winners are responsible for paying all applicable income taxes associated with accepting their Prize. Winner will be required to sign a Liability and/or Publicity Release (“Prize Release”) and a IRS W-9 prior to the issuance of the prize. An IRS 1099 will be submitted to all appropriate taxing authorities. Prizes awarded to any single winner will not exceed $550 in value. Prizes are not redeemable for cash equivalence, not transferable for other prizes and do not include travel to, from or within St. Louis
Claiming the Prizes: Upon winner verification, as a condition of being named the official winner, the potential winners must claim their prizes in person during normal business hours (9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.) within thirty (30) days of being deemed a winner. The winner must prove he or she is a qualified winner by presenting acceptable identification (e.g., state driver’s license; state issued identification card; valid passport with address verification; or birth certificate with social security card and photo identification and address verification). If a winner cannot prove he or she is a qualified winner, the prize will not awarded. All unclaimed or returned prizes remain property of Sponsor.
Participation Conditions/Release/Covenant to Use Likeness: By participating, each participant agrees to (a) comply with and be bound by these Official Rules and the decisions of the Sponsor which are binding and final in all matters relating to the Contest, (b) release and hold harmless Sponsor and its members, managers, officers, directors, employees, agents, and the successors, assigns and personal representatives of each of them (the “Released Parties”) from and against any and all claims, expenses, and liability, including but not limited to negligence and damages of any kind to persons and property, including, but not limited to invasion of privacy (under appropriation, intrusion, public disclosure of private facts, false light in the public eye or other legal theory), defamation, slander, libel, violation of right of publicity, infringement of trademark, copyright or other intellectual property rights, property damage, or death or personal injury arising out of or relating to the participant’s participation in the Contest and acceptance or use or misuse of the prize, (c) indemnify, defend, and hold harmless the Released Parties from and against any and all claims, expenses, and liabilities (including reasonable attorneys’ fees) arising out of or relating the entrant’s participation in the Contests, and/or the entrant’s acceptance, use or misuse of the prize, and (d) allow Sponsor’s use for promotional purposes of his/her likeness, voice (including a recording of the winner’s voice) and/or address (city/state) without any additional compensation.
General Conditions. Sponsor reserves the right to cancel, suspend, and/or modify the Contest or any part for any reason whatsoever, including without limitation, fire, flood, natural or man-made epidemic of health or other means, earthquake, explosion, labor, dispute or strike, act of God or public enemy, satellite or equipment failure, riot or civil disturbance, terrorist threat or activity, war (declared or undeclared) or any federal or state or local government law, order, or regulation, public health crisis, order of any court or jurisdiction or if any fraud, technical failures or any other factor beyond Sponsor’s reasonable control impairs the integrity or proper functioning of the Contest, as determined by the Sponsor in its sole discretion. Sponsor reserves the right in its sole discretion to disqualify any individual it finds to be tampering with the participation process or the operation of the Contest or to be acting in violation of these Official Rules or in an unsportsmanlike or disruptive manner. Any attempt by any person to deliberately undermine the legitimate operation of the Contest may be a violation of criminal and civil law and should such an attempt be made, Sponsor reserves the right to seek damages from any such person to the fullest extent permitted by the law. Only the type and quality of prizes described in these rules will be awarded. The invalidity or unenforceability of any provision of these rules will not affect the validity or enforceability of any other provision. In the event that any provision is determined to be invalid or otherwise unenforceable or illegal, these rules shall otherwise remain in effect and shall be construed in accordance with their terms as if the invalid or illegal provision were not contained herein. Sponsor’s failure to enforce any term of these Official Rules shall not constitute a waiver of that provision.
Limitation of Liability. The Released Parties as set forth above are not responsible for: (a) any incorrect to inaccurate information, whether caused by entrants, printing errors, or by any of the equipment or programming associated with or utilized in the Contest, (b) technical failures of any kind, including but not limited to malfunctions, interruptions, or disconnections in phone lines or network hardware or software, (c) unauthorized human intervention in any part of the participation or the Contest, (d) technical or human error which may occur in the administration of the Contest or the processing of the answers, or (e) any injury or damage to persons or property which may be caused, directly or indirectly, in whole or in part, from entrant’s participation in the Contest or receipt or use or misuse of any Prize.
Disputes/Governing Law: Except where prohibited, entrant agrees that (a) any and all disputes, claims, and causes of action arising out of or connected with this Contest or the prize awarded shall be resolved individually, and without resort to any form of class action, and exclusively by the federal or state court of the State of Missouri, (b) any and all claims, judgments, and awards shall be limited to actual out-of-pocket costs incurred, including costs associated with entering the Contest, but in no event attorneys’ fees or legal fees, and (c) unless otherwise prohibited, under no circumstances will entrant be permitted to obtain awards for, and entrant hereby waives all rights to claim indirect, punitive, incidental and consequential and any other damages, other than for actual out-of-pocket expenses, and any right to have damages multiplied or otherwise increased. All issues and questions concerning the construction, validity, interpretation, and enforceability of these Official Rules, or the rights and obligations of the entrant and Sponsor in connection with this Contest shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of Missouri, without giving any effect to any choice or law or conflict of law rules (whether of the State of Missouri or any other jurisdiction), which would cause application of the laws of any jurisdiction other than the State of Missouri.
